Clabbers

I've always enoyed playing Scrabble - and I might even be persuaded to try the anagram-based variation, Clabbers - but it never concerns me the slightest bit whether I win or lose.

What I like about Scrabble, mostly, is the process of selecting tiles. But only if the tiles are wooden, and pulled from a fabric sack. I enjoy the feel and sound of it: the cool smoothness of the letter tiles and their soft clack-clacking as they pass between my fingers. Plastic tiles pulled from brown paper bags just don't measure up - and online versions of the game feel totally pointless.

(Does every blogger eventually start to feel like Captain Queeg?)

(A bigger question: Would anyone who's under 40 understand the previous reference?)
